Fine Gunsmithing

I specialize in mechanical function, which means making old firearms perform like they were supposed to when they were new or making newer weapons perform like they should have performed all along.

I can make essentially anything small enough to be a rifle or pistol part.   See our mechanical engineering section for more info.

Note that parts for the older and more scarce arms are difficult to impossible to come by.  Cannibalizing another gun or shop-made parts are often the only options.  Parts guns, of course, were downgraded from "rough shooter" status and may not contain any usable parts.

I don't do cosmetic or refinishing work, but can recommend several good resources.  It's important to note that I'm pretty good at this, at least in part, because I'm slow.  If you need it done quickly, your local smith might be a better choice.

Can't find anyone who can fix your rare of interesting firearm?  Let's talk about it.

Custom work

I got started in the trade because I wanted to shoot Bullseye and couldn't afford a gunsmith.  Within a few years, I'd worked on hundreds of revolvers, 1911s, and .22s for fellow shooting club members, as well as '03 Springfield, Garand and M14 / M1A rifles, hunting rifles and revolvers, and carry pieces.

If it's legal, safe, and won't destroy the value of a rare or historical weapon, we can probably do it.  Precise manual and/or CNC-controlled turning and cutting,  hand-fitting filing and stoning common carbon and stainless steels, aluminum, titanium. Port, ream and finish chamber, fit, and install barrels.  Mods and tuning for specific uses or conditions.
